Open AI Releases The Chatgpt 4 Mini

We all know about Chat-Gpt and the massive impact it has had on the world already. In fact it has reached its 4th version some time ago, and its more advanced than ever before. However the drawbacks are that hosting the full version of ChatGpt is expensive and resource intensive. Open AI has stated their goal is to make AI available to everyone, so they needed to streamline the process a bit.

Their full sized model is more advanced and offers more function, but its hard to implement it for so many organizations and products because of its requirements. They either can’t run it on their products or can afford to. With this problem, Open AI has decided to release Chat GPT 4o Mini. This is a small model AI based on the larger 4o. And while it is smaller than other versions, it is still highly functional for the things it focuses on.

Small models are good for high volume simple tasks, like large amounts of questions and searches. This is what GPT 4 mini excels at. It is 60 percent cheaper than their previous small model (Chat GPT 3.5 turbo) while being more accurate and easier to run.

So what does this mean anyway? Well it means that likely we are gonna see chat GPT be implemented on even more products and services in the coming days. The cheaper AI gets, the more it will find its way into daily use. This version also can process images to some degree as well as having more safety features than the previous versions.

Open AI with this release is trying to entice companies to include Chat GPT in their business model. We’ll see how it goes but it looks like companies really marketing AI driven products these days, so you are bound to see more of it soon.

AI Powered MRI Vehicle Scanners

Another new step forward in AI technology. Companies have begun using MRI-like scanning technology and AI in a new and innovative way. There’s lot of different versions out there, but they all use the same basic concept. A large ring which hits the vehicle with high energy waves, like an MRI, identifying each individual part of the vehicle. In a short time the operator can determine not only if anything is wrong with the vehicle, but also if anything will break soon. That’s pretty awesome and Amazon also seems to think so too since they doubled down on it.

One startup, Uveye, landed 100 million dollars from GM and Carmax to implement their solutions. This technology is derived from a military system used to detect security threats like bombs and drugs, but using AI, it has evolved. Now this tech can be used to keep people safe in other ways. You can detect defects and damage, even recommending maintenance before any issues occur. Now it will only be a short while before the average consumer can just drive up for a car scan. Companies are dumping money into the system. Once they get it cheap and work all the bugs out, you may see them pop up all over the place.

Thankfully the new push in the AI sector has made all of these Sci-Fi technologies possible. while systems like this existed before, the were slow and not able to predict future issue until the learning algorithm was introduced. I for one cant wait till they get a a full commercial release. So far only a few places have one, like in Hawaii. Once it happens maybe I can finally figure out why my car keeps making that noise...

Ditching Lithium, The Future Of Green Energy Storage, Zinc Bromine

Lithium is the base ingredient in almost all of the batteries we use today. Both in infrastructure and everyday life. Lithium-ion batteries were the great invention that replaced lead acid batteries in the 20th century. They allowed for the miniaturization of so many technologies we rely upon now.

We have laptops and smartphones and electric cars thanks to Lithium. But there are problems, we have hit the limit of lithium’s abilities. Lithium batteries degrade fast when recharged, lowering battery life continuously during use. The batteries themselves are made of a flammable and toxic material that can be dangerous in the wrong conditions. Not only that, creating the batteries and mining the materials needed for them is extremely damaging for the environment. This leads many green technologies to be barely better than fossil fuels in their pollution and waste creation, all thanks to lithium.

That is why scientists have been searching for a replacement for years. There are many promising options but the one we are focusing on is the Zinc-Bromine battery. It has already been developed and put into operation by a number of companies. It solves many of lithium’s issues. The materials are cheaper, Less toxic, easier to produce and last much longer. Some versions of these batteries can even be put in standby modes and retain their full charge for more than a year offline! They wont catch fire, they don’t need cooling systems, and they are easy to recycle. A win win in every category!

A Few companies have already started capitalizing on these new batteries like Primus power in the US and Redflow in Australia. Even the military seems to be on board with the batteries, hiring Redflow for multiple locations. The DOD is seeking to use this battery technology in over 450 American bases abroad eventually. That’s a lot of trust in this new technology. Should all keep going well these new Zinc based batteries could revolutionized the worlds energy infrastructure, and propel many other green technologies along with it. I’m looking at you electric vehicles!
