Sunday Special: Nvidia's And Tik-Tok's Legal Woes

Read up on the Anti-Trust probe targeting Nvidia and the lawsuit against Tik-Tok.

A Sunday Special? 💣️

We were having fun this weekend and found some fun news we wanted to share early ahead of our current schedule. While discussing upgrading a few machines with some friends, we saw that Nvidia was hit with some major anti-trust probes this week. Tik-Tok didn’t fare any better as the Department Of Justice finally launched a long expected lawsuit over the collection of children’s data.

Nvidia’s Market Tank

Nvidia has long enjoyed it’s position as the dominant power in the chip market, flexing along the bounds of legality to remain there. Recently, a number of sources claim that the company has abused it’s position and it’s now under the crosshairs of the Justice Department.

Anti-Trust probes started to be placed within the company to investigate concerns of cornering the market through pressure. Allegations contain threats to punish those who buy products from both the Santa Clara, California-based tech giant and its competitors.

U.S. officials are noted to have reached out to several Nvidia competitors to investigate. They also declined to comment any further on the information truly contained in their investigation. The company’s PR is cooperative, open and honest, with full intentions to abide by the law.

Tik-Tok’s Endless Battle

Tik-Tok

The Department Of Justice launched yet another lawsuit on Tik-Tok in an ongoing string of investigations. Recently, they struck the company with violating children’s online privacy and violating a settlement it had with another federal agency.

Currently the company faces the threat of expulsion from the country as legislators argue over the potential data risks due to this company’s claimed connections. In addition now, it is claimed they violated a federal law that requires kid-oriented apps and websites to get parental consent before collecting personal information of children under 13.

Unfortunately, it is also alleged Tik-Tok denied or ignored parent’s request to remove data once asked by them. Tik-Tok has since denied the allegations by the Justice Department claiming they are incidents that have already been addressed.
