Roadtrip of the day

🥴 CRISPR Me Timbers

Bothered by sickle-cell and frustrated with your options? Look no further then CRISPR. Despite the promising sales pitch, this upcoming technological marvel of medical science is still being developed but is showing the capability to rewrite how we treat patients in the future. Casgevy, a sickle cell treatment that has been approved by the FDA in early December of last year. With us nearly conquering sickle cell with CRISPR, there are even talks of this being used to treat or possibly cure the herpes virus and other previously thought untreatable illnesses. Are you curious to learn about how humans are genetically treated?

🖥️ Exascale Computation

Quantum computing not your speed? Want to build a super computer without the hassle of super-cooling your entire house to subzero temperatures just to do a math problem? Exascale computers might just be the answer to your logic crunching headaches. Think of these machines as your basic computer but equipped with far more advanced and larger parts as well as being built to the size of a server stack or even a whole room.

Benchmarks done on the most recent government built Exascale computer far surpassed our first foray into super computers showing just how remarkable these machines are. The US built device is being called “The Frontier” located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), it is rated to be 1 million times faster then the first test of these machines which was done in 1996 on the ASCI Red’s series of super-computers. Interested in knowing more and potentially excited by the idea of solving any logical problem in seconds?

🥽 Augmented Education

Introducing a new way to learn, on the job and in the classroom. From College campuses to businesses and even in the military, Augmented reality is shaping the learning environment. This New Technology is only recently becoming commercially viable. It allows for the training of individuals on semi real world scenarios at no risk. It also helps us all skip that boring web module based training and get some ‘hands on’ experience.

Even the Military is investing heavily into it. General Dynamics “Virtual Ship” is a simple version currently in service with the navy. The army is testing IVAS Goggles, which integrate AR functionality onto the soldiers helmet. The future of This New Technology is only just beginning and is going to evolve before our very eyes!

😆 A laugh for the road
